COLORADO SPRINGS WAS THE PLACE TO BE!!!

The 5th annual MSCPVA Invitational Wheelchair Bowling Tournament was held at the King Pin Lanes in Colorado Springs, Colorado, August 27-30, 2009.

Once again, this event was great success. This year there were a total of 32 bowlers who participated in the four-day event. Friday night the Up/Down Tournament was held with a total of 72 bowlers, which was a significant decrease from last year’s tournament, but proved to be just as much fun! There was also a 50/50 raffle, and a prize raffle, with great items given out to many. Saturday followed with a delicious barbeque hosted annually by Halliburton.

We would like to thank and acknowledge Ms. Carol Doan - Owner and General Manager of King Pin Lanes for her hospitality and continuous support. We also gratefully acknowledge all our community-based sponsors without whose support we could not have produced this event. I would most gratefully like to thank our continuing sponsors, and in particular Halliburton, for their generosity in providing the wonderful barbecue for our veterans and bowlers on Saturday. I would also like to thank my Assistant Tournament Director — Mrs. Donna DeBaca as well as AWBA scoring officials Mrs. Helena Roy and Mrs. Linda Schneider, for assisting us with tournament results. Their knowledge and guidance has become an instrumental part in our event. A special thanks to Mrs. Loretta Spotts and Mrs. Cheryl Poole from the AWBA Ladies Auxiliary for coordinating our 50/50 raffle. I also wish to thank the following members who assisted in external fundraising for the tournament: Gary Poole, Ed Goddard, Dan Spotts and Ed Hutchens. Last, but certainly not least, I wish to thank the staff of MSCPVA who provided countless hours in the preparation of this event. Peggy Smith from Oklahoma won the drawing for the free entry into the AWBA 2010 Nationals to be held in Houston, Texas next June.

We look forward to seeing you next year for the 6th Annual MSCPVA Invitational Wheelchair Bowling Tournament on August 12-15, 2010!!
