Las Vegas Results...

The AWBA rolled into Texas Station in Las Vegas and what an end to a wonderful year of bowling, camaraderie, and making new friends.  Fifty plus bowlers, their wives, family and friends, were treated to a great tournament hosted by Walt and Helena Roy.  Thanks to both of you along with Van and Linda Schneider for a great time.  And the bowling was outstanding by all and well above outstanding for a few that showed off.  Our host, Walt Roy, bowled a smooth 276 and Gary Ryan bowled his first 204 during the singles competition.  Congratulations to both.  Additionally, Dave “SANDBAGGER” Roberts bowled left handed for the first time due to an injury to his right shoulder and made the top five!  Great Job Dave.  Moreover, how about Dallas Candy from California.  His first tournament in a wheelchair and wins the “B” Division.  In addition, he has only been in a wheelchair since March, 2008.  Congratulations Dallas for living our belief, “Ability Not Disability” guides your life.

Now, let us talk about the ring around Congo Lane where numerous individuals played for the mega jackpot for hours.  They were the envy of the casino guests and the staff of the casino just wanted them to GO AWAY!  Not really, as it may have been the highlight to some of the staff as Las Vegas is suffering from a lack of gamblers due to the slow economy.  However, that did not stop those from investing a HUGE wager, ($6) and spending hours watching the wheels turn.  For those that thought you could just touch the spin button with your hand, well, we all learned different but what goes in Vegas stays in Vegas!  Thanks to Dan Spotts for a great ideaand a great time had by all.

Whether you won, lost, or tied, WE all won in the end.  The AWBA wishes all of our members, their family, and friends, all the best in 2009 and let us make plans to get together soon.  Florida is the next stop for this great organization and we hope to see you there!
