Michigan AWBA / MPVA Tournament Dates Set...

Dear AWBA/PVA Members,

As Tournament Director, I would like to invite you to the 1ST Annual Michigan PVA Bowling tournament. This is our first regional bowling tournament and we’re working hard to make it a great success. This is an AWBA/PVA National Tour event. Since this is our first AWBA/PVA tournament, we are trying to go the extra mile by providing transportation, lower entry fees and good payouts. All tournament functions including check in and the awards luncheon will be held at Skore Lanes in Taylor, Michigan. Skore Lanes has 48 beautiful synthetic lanes that are fully accessible. There is a lock-up room at Skore Lanes for anyone who wants to leave their equipment.

Michigan PVA will be providing transportation for the event. We will be making airport runs as well as a shuttle service between the host hotels and Skore Lanes. We have secured 2 hotels located side by side for our tournament. They’re about a ten minute drive from the Skore lanes and less than five minutes from the airport. There are several restaurants located within wheeling distance of both hotels. The Fairfield has 12 accessible rooms (some with roll in showers and flip down benches) and all regular rooms are fairly large with wide bathroom doors. The group rate is $82 per night. We also have 9 accessible rooms ($72 per night) being held at the LaQuinta next door. Cut off dates for the block of rooms is May 1st although they will still honor the group rate after that date as long as they have rooms available. Both have free continental breakfast.

We will be using your AWBA adjusted average or your current USBC average, whichever is higher. Handicap will be 90% from 210 for the A and B divisions We will be bowling 15 games of qualifying followed by roll-offs for the top 5 finishers in each division. Doubles will be pins over average. After 3 games the field will be cut to 8 teams with head to head competition. Half the remaining teams will be eliminated after each subsequent round. We will be having an up-down event Friday evening. Please sign up. We need your participation to make it a success. Each team will consist of 1 wheelchair bowler and 1-3 standing bowlers depending on how many entries are received. All events except the up-down tournament will be USBC and AWBA sanctioned.
