2009 Mid america PVA Tournament Resuts

Heritage Lanes, OKC, OK July 24-26, 2009

The PVA/AWBA trail returned to Heritage Lanes in Oklahoma City for the second Ten Pin Meltdown tournament hosted by the Mid-America PVA chapter. Thursday events included the Doubles Event won by the Peggy Smith (OK) and William Smith (OK) both new members to the AWBA. They beat two more new comers Kavin Monroe (OK) & Gildardo Herrera (OK). That evening Wayne Webber (FL) teamed with Nancy and Dave Roberts (VA) to capture the Up & Down crown with ten teams in the field.

After the fifteen game qualifying, Mark Shepherd (CO) lead the scratch qualifiers (2823) Phillip Daniel (MD) was top “A” qualifier (3234) and William Smith led the “B” division qualifying (3287). Two new bowlers to the AWBA, Shawn Beam (TX) and David Nelson (NE) both showed great form and both men will be formidable competitors in future tournaments without question.

Following the roll offs we had an excellent dinner at the bowling center with barbequed chicken and trimmings. Individual awards were presented to Bob Goddard HSS (624), Mark Shepherd HSG (232); “A” division HHS (696) to Dave Nelson, HHG (252) to Bill Birch, HSS (532) to Phillip Daniel and HSG (192) to J.K. Johnston. In the “B” Division, the honors went to William Smith HHS (699), Doug Conley HHG (254), Rich Harrell HSS (441) and Smiley Wallace HSG (172). Most improved honors went to Dave Roberts with an improvement of 604 pins over last year. Winner of the FREE entry into Nationals in Houston was Gildardo Herrera from OKC. Congratulations !!!!!!
