On Dec. 2, 2011, 49 members of the AWBA descended on the Texas Station Bowling Center, in Las Vegas.
The competition began on Thursday with 21 teams taking to the lanes. After the dust settled, the team of Ivanhoe Richey and Tim Crowley were the victors. Stacy and Harvey Clowers came up just a little short, taking second place prize money.
Thursday night 29 teams competed for the Up and Down event, a venue that is very popular among those in the Las Vegas area as well as the AWBA bowlers. There was lots of fun had by all, great raffle prizes, and lots of laughs had by all. Martin Frost, Laura Daniels, and Larry Daniels ended up as the winning team but all the teams were winners in their own right. Thanks to all those from the Vegas area that participated.
Singles competition began on Friday with at total of 47 bowlers participating. There were some great scores in all divisions and over 50% of the field in each division received a cash reward for their efforts. In the scratch division Shawn Beam from Texas edged out Al Uttecht, California, the first member of the AWBA to be inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame. Doug Dalton, Colorado, edge out Adrian Patterson, Arizona, in a great match, to take the “A” Division, and Andy Bernt, Florida, beat Colby Kortum, Colorado, to win the “B” Division crown.

Without her computer, we would still be there computing!! It takes a great team to put on this event each year along with a supporting cast of AWBA bowlers. It is my pleasure to be a part of it.
